Gray's Anatomy

The book

In the period from 1860 to 1880 seven editions in the UK have been published. 1878, the work was divided into a version for the UK and one for the United States. The first U.S. version is about the 8th British, which caused especially in citations for great confusion.

The current version is the 40th edition, which came out in September 2008. It was at Churchill Livingstone ( British version ) or CV Mosby ( U.S. version ) installed. The differences in the two issues relate only to small differences in the nomenclature, such as the use of adrenaline instead of epinephrine.

The current version is also available as a CD -ROM.

A new textbook named Gray's Anatomy for Students appeared in 2004. Though it bears the old name, it is a completely re- written book, as Gray 's Anatomy over time became more and more a complete documentation of the medical and anatomical knowledge, and less and less could be used as a textbook. From the 35th edition has been increasingly paid to a compression of the content. Nevertheless, the 38th edition included still 2092 large-format pages.

In 2007, Gray's Anatomy for Students appeared as the first German edition of the book.

Reception

The plant is widespread in the Anglo-American world, in other regions (eg, continental Europe ) rather less.

  • In the eighth episode of the 13th season of the Simpsons one sees Dr. Nick the book in the library ( for the first time ) look.
  • The same sounding name of the TV series Grey's Anatomy is an allusion to the textbook.
