Greaseproof paper
Waxed paper or parchment replacement is a woodfree, greaseproof paper, which is used for packaging of food. It is, as opposed to genuine parchment, neither waterproof nor to boiling.
Fat impermeability is achieved by a grinding of the greasy fibers. The fibers are crushed thereby, the absorbency of the paper decreases greatly. For packaging purposes Greaseproof is also laminated. The basis weight is 40-80 g / m². With a basis weight below 40 g / m is referred to as glassine.
