Great Mosque of Xi'an

The Mosque of Xi'an and Great Mosque of Xi'an ( Chinese: Xi'an Qingzhensi西安 清真寺or Xi'an Since Qingzhensi西安 大 清真寺) is located near the Drum Tower ( Gulou ) in the Huajue Alley ( Huajue xiang ) of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. She is one of the oldest and most famous mosques in the country.

It was in the Tang Dynasty ( in the time of emperor Xuanzong, 685-762 ) built at the eastern end of the Silk Road and was renovated in later times (especially during the reign of Emperor Hongwu of the Ming Dynasty ). It is an attraction for tourists and is still used today by Chinese Muslims (mainly of Hui Chinese ) used as a place of prayer. Unlike most mosques in the Middle East or other Arab countries, the Mosque of Xi'an is completely Chinese influenced in their construction and architectural style. The only exceptions are some Arabic lettering and decorations, for the mosque has neither domes nor minarets.
