Greater long-tailed hamster

The rat -like hamsters ( Tscherskia triton ) is a rodent species from the subfamily of hamsters ( Cricetinae ).

This Hamsterart is one of the largest of the hamster species designated as a "dwarf hamster ". It reaches a body length 12-16 centimeters, to which another 7 to 10 inches dick come. His fur is gray on top and white gray at the bottom. On the back there may be a darker dorsal stripe, feet and cheeks are white. It is similar in its appearance to the Grey dwarf hamsters, but is significantly larger and has a more robust skull.

This Hamsterart is native to East Asia; their circulation area covers northeast China ( Manchuria ), Korea and the Ussuri region in the extreme southeast of Russia. Their habitat is dry, open areas.

Little is known about the way of life. These animals create vertical shafts that lead to stock warehouses where they can store large amounts of grains. These bearings can take up to 35 liters and are sometimes dug up by the farmers of the region for their own use. The type should be very aggressive and attack and eat other small rodents.
