Greg Norton

Greg Norton ( born March 13, 1959 in Iceland skirt, Illinois) is an American bassist and chef who is best known for his work in the band Hüsker Dü.

Career

Greg Norton grew up in Mendota, Minnesota, and worked during his youth together with Grant Hart in the record store Memory Lane in St. Paul. Along with Hart and Bob Mould, who often shopped in this store, he founded in 1978 the band Hüsker Dü. Through his eclectic mustache he sat down heavily on the outside of his fellow musicians. Another passion that he pursued in those years, was cooking.

After the dissolution of Hüsker Dü in 1987, he and two companions from Hüsker - Dü times, Colin Mansfield ( guitar) and Jo Jones (drums), the band Grey Area, which it achieved considerable fame in the Twin Cities ( Minneapolis St. Paul ) brought. During its existence, the band was twice for recordings in a recording studio; but these were never published. Grey Area split up in 1991.

After Norton left the music business in order to concentrate on the cooking. Together with his wife Sarah, whom he married in 2001, he opened in 2003 in Red Wing, Minnesota, the restaurant "The Norton's ," which has won several awards for its wine selection.
