Greg Swor

Samuel Gregory " Greg" Swor ( born April 19, 1951 in Fargo ) is a former American ski jumper.

Career

His first successes celebrated Swor at national level. In the U.S. Junior Championships 1969 in Brattleboro, he won the title in the individual competition. Then he received a National Squad spot at the Four Hills Tournament 1969/70 for the first time. However, He remained in all jumping up to expectations and reached rank 41 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, his best result in the tour. In the overall standings Swor reached the 39th place with 761.5 points.

The following U.S. Championships in 1970 in Eau Claire on the Silver Mine Hill, he won the victory by Bill Bakke the bronze medal in singles. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1970 in Štrbské Pleso he succeeded on the big hill after jumps on 88 and 98 meters the 26th place. From the normal hill he reached with jumps of 77.5 and 76 meters in 24th place in the same year jumped Swor on the Bakke Hill in Leavenworth with a new hill record of 105.2 meters, which lasted until the destruction of the jump.

In his second and final Four Hills Tournament 1970/71 he achieved a significant improvement over the previous year. Although Swor landed at the opening event on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf on the 44th, but could jump in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, ranked 15th. On the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck with the 14th place he achieved the best result of his career touring single. After he again jumped at the conclusion jumping on the Paul Ausserleitner hill in Bischofshofen with the 27th place among the top 30, he ended the tour ranked 21 overall.

His last international tournament played Swor with the launch at the Olympic Winter Games in 1972 in Sapporo. He jumped on the normal hill on rank 50 and rank 30 on the large hill

In 1975 he joined family reasons officially back from skiing.
