Greg Vaydik

Greg Vaydik ( born October 9, 1955 in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played during his career for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League.

Career

Greg Vaydik began his career in 1972 at the Drumheller Falcons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. During the 1972/73 season he went to the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WCJHL and won with the team at season's end the President's Cup. In his third season he scored over 100 points for the Medicine Hat Tigers and was the third best scorer of the team. In the NHL Amateur Draft 1975, he was selected in the first round as the seventh player from the Chicago Blackhawks. The 1975/76 season he played with the Dallas Blackhawks in the Central Hockey League, however, came only 17 appearances since he was retired due to a knee injury almost all season. A year later he made ​​his debut for the Blackhawks in the National Hockey League and came to five appearances, but no point scorer. In the Dallas Blackhawks, he was the next two years set as a regular player and Vaydik each shot 29 goals. In 1978 he went to the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League, where he scored 41 points in 80 games. However, the return to the NHL he was no longer possible and Greg Vaydik played again until 1982 for the Dallas Black Hawks in the Central Hockey League. After the 1981/82 season, he finished his career.

At the Junior World Cup in 1975 Greg Vaydik played for the team Canada and won the silver medal. He came in three games for use and gave an assist.
