The Griffon Fauve de Bretagne is one of the FCI ( No. 66, Gr. 6, sec 1.2) recognized French breed.

Origin and History

Since the 14th century the precursors of this breed are used as pack dog. In the 19th century, the wolf hunt was the scope, with the disappearance of wolves they lost their importance and almost disappeared from the scene. In 1949, Marcel Pambrun the Club de Fauve de Bretagne to obtain these rare hound. Since then, his place among the French hounds is secured.

Description

The Griffon Fauve de Bretagne is up to 56 cm tall and 22 kg in weight, is fawn, of golden wheat color to brick red. The hair of the dog is very rough, hard, rather short. The ears are hanging taper to a point, turned inwards and covered with hair, put forward they reach the tip of the nose.

Outside of France, the race may be less known, but like more and more often as a family dog ​​. The reason for this the balanced nature of the animals and their high docility can be seen.
