Grimaldi (crater)

The crater Grimaldi is the darkest part on the front of the moon. It lies on the western edge of the moon at Oceanus Procellarum and is an ancient impact basin about 200 km in diameter and a wall height of about 3 km. Its circular center is covered by a very dark lava.

Partial get is an outdoor wall at 430 km in diameter. Size default, the basin the transition between wall and moon sea level dar.

The crater was named in 1935 after the Italian astronomer Francesco Maria Grimaldi. It forms with the almost equally large craters Riccioli and Hevelius an equilateral triangle.
