Grinding wheel

A grinding wheel is a hard of granular abrasive material and a suitable binder industrially produced rotationally symmetrical body. Generally have wheels at the center a bore for receiving a grinding machine. For ( loops ) are processed at peripheral speeds of up to 300 m / s metal, wood, glass and other materials by fine chipping.

Grinding wheels are highly specialized tools that are designed and manufactured specifically depending on the application. They consist of the three essential components of the abrasive grain, bond, and pores. As abrasives, natural or synthetic materials are used. The natural abrasives include quartz, corundum, emery, pumice, garnet and natural diamonds. However, synthetic grit materials are mainly used, which can be set by the manufacturing process in their properties. These are corundum ( Al2O3), silicon carbide ( SiC), cubic boron nitride (cBN ) and synthetically produced diamond. Corundum and silicon carbide are among the group of the conventional, cubic boron nitride and diamond abrasive to the high-hardness materials.

As bonds come in grinding wheels mainly resin bonds, vitrified bonds, metallic bonds sintered and electroplated bonds are used. But even rubber bonds and bonds as polyurethane are used when high surface quality are required.

Abrasive wheels may also contain fillers and additives on the above-described base materials also. These can both be necessary for the production process, or specifically change the operational characteristics of grinding wheels. Examples of these are fillers and support grains in a synthetic resin bonds which can increase the strength, heat resistance and toughness, or solid lubricants such as graphite or pyrites, reduce, among other things, the resulting grinding temperatures.

There are many useful applications, such as ball grinding, camshaft grinding, cylindrical grinding, surface grinding, etc. accuracies ( rough ( Roughing ), medium grinding, finish grinding ) or engagement geometry ( deep grinding, abrasive cutting). Depending on the grain used, you can grind coarse or fine. For each material, a better accuracy is achieved than 2.5 microns. For special applications, for example, saw blades or the like, the grinding surface is designed and trained in respective profiles.

Grinding plates are massive metal support which are equipped with carbide grit or diamond segments. These are mounted on concrete grinders and are used for removal of old coatings or sanding concrete surfaces. Thanks to the high strength of the base support, this tool can be extremely stressed.

Saw blades are used for cutting of materials. In this method, during the cutting process, the surface remains smooth at the cut material.

Grinding is a machining method in which each grain, which comes into contact with the material, a very small chip is separated from the material.

The non-woven grinding wheel has abrasive sponge-like tissue that has been soaked with dark resin. The surface is hard but yielding. The look is reminiscent of a dark pastries, the grinding wheel is therefore also called " Negerkeks ". The pane is an effective but gentle removal and simultaneous underground polish. It is suitable for wooden conditionally.
