Gríðr

Grid or Gridr ( Gríðr ) is an ice or Reifriesin in Norse mythology. Along with Odin has Vidar as a son.

When she discovered the intention of Loki to let Thor kill by the giant Geirröd, she handed Thor three magical items:

• The power belt Megingiard
• The iron glove Jarngreipr and
• A wand from Haw wood called Griðarvölr

These items secured the survival of Thor.

It is mentioned in the Þrymskviða and Snorri Sturluson in Skáldskaparmál. You or a namesake appears as a witch in the Illuga saga Gríðarfóstra.
