Gröbenbach

Gröbenbach in Dachau

The Gröbenbach is about 19 km long right tributary of the Amper in Upper Bavaria.

Course

The Gröbenbach and most of its tributaries ( Erlbach, Fischbach, long Wiedersbach ) arise at the foot of Parsbergs ( 569 m above sea level ) and the Aubinger Lohe (541 m asl ), where groundwater aquifers ( Flinz ) come to the surface. The Gröbenbach itself arises as Wood Creek near the Germeringer lake in the area of Germering in Unterpfaffenhofen district. It then flows through Puchheim and Grobenzell, where it forms the border in parts of the City of Munich. Next the Gröbenbach flows through the western Dachau moss and the hamlets Eschenried and Gröbenried the mountain community churches to Dachau, where about 250 m north of the B471 is a gauging station of the Water Management office Munich. Just before the mouth of the ampere- a majority of the water is derived. This flows in the bed of the channel Schleißheimer first eastward and then over the Pollnbach in the Dachau district Polln in the Würm, which opens shortly thereafter in the Amper.

Nature and environment

The Gröbenbach, originally a meandering meadows and moss creek, is now straightened almost in its entire course and channeled.

Only between Puchheim and Puchheim Station restoration measures were carried out over a distance of several hundred meters. The Big Map of Bavaria by Philipp Apian, dating back to 1560, suggests that the upper reaches of the Gröbenbachs originally went into the ashtray Bach and already at Feldgeding, in the municipality of mountain churches, led to the Amper. The Topographical Atlas of the Kingdom of Bavaria from 1812 shows the Gröbenbach in its present course, but still unbegradigt. Approximately where the Gröbenbach today passes under the motorway A8, according to this map began a straight channel for Würm. The course of the now infilled channel bed is, however, still marked by the remarkably straight course in this section of the Munich city limits.
