Big Sun View ( middle) and Middle Sonnblick (right), seen from the south

The Great Sonnblick or Malteiner Sundays look, a peak with a height of 3030 m above sea level. A. lies in the Ankogelgroup of the Hohe Tauern in Austria and is the easternmost peak of the Alps which exceeds a height of 3000 meters. The summit is located about 18 km as the crow northwest of Gmünd in Kärnten and 8,5 km as the crow northeast of the Hochalmspitze. The join -less in the upper part of the normal increase Gmuender cabin is free of snow and dry conditions not difficult, however, due to the large difference in altitude ( about 1900 meters altitude) exhausting to walk. Increase

The ascent route leads in about 5-6 hours from the Gmuender hut ( 1185 m above sea level. A. ) first on a forestry road to the uncultivated Ochsenhütte (1884 m above sea level. A. ), then over a bridge, crossing a stream (from steiglos here ) northward over some steep grass slopes to a pastureland near the little Melniksee, now north westwards up through a block tangle in one map south of the Middle Sonnblick (required slip resistance ) over a steep scree slope to a saddle and then in a south-westerly direction over the rocky summit ridge to the highest point.

Neighboring peaks

East of the Sun Great view is the Mean Sun View ( 3000 m). The two summits are connected by a ridge, which can be committed even without climbing.
