The Great White Lake is a lake in the western district of Mecklenburg Lake District, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is located about a mile west of Wesenberg and fills along with the Little White Lake, a small glacial trough on.

Location

The Great White Lake is surrounded by the west and north-west by the Forest Scenic Area High wood, where the area of the Müritz National Park begins. In the north of the lake there is a drainage ditch that leads from the lake, but most of the time of year leads no water. To the north of the lake is the Great villa at the White Lake, which was built in 1920/1921 and used as a children's home since 1947. East of the lake, the elevation of the Wörlandbergs and a small settlement connects directly to the shore. To the south of the railway embankment of the railway line Wittstock Neustrelitz is visible.

Near the lake are the Little White Lake and the Little Labussee.

Tourism

At the end of the 19th century, the use and development of the southern shore of the Great White Lake began. Thus, a bathhouse was opened in 1893 there, from which the old locker room building is present even today. Not far from the bathing beach in the construction of a new restaurant was built in 1963 and opened. In 1970, the first public campground on the western slope of Wörlandbergs, so the lake was finally opened for tourism. Due to the water conditions and good visibility at the time chose GST- athletes in the 1970s and 80s the lake as a training site for divers.
