Ground Master 400

The GM 406F ( Ground Master 406 ) is a phased array radar system of air defense. Operational users in Germany is the operational command of the Air Force service. More radars of the Air Force are Medium Power Radar (HADR radar) and RAT 31DL.

System

The GM 406F consists of an air surveillance radar in semiconductor technology and a secondary radar. The GM 406F is altered to meet the requirements of the German Air Force version of the deployable GM 400 radar manufacturer ThalesRaytheonSystems. It will replace the end of 2015, the six medium power radars and installed at their current locations in the existing building, if a unit price of 21 million euros. The radars are currently being manufactured at Thales factory in the French Limours.

Deployment in Germany

In Germany since July 2013, the first of six planned GM 406F in operation. It is placed under the operational command of the Air Force service ( EinsFüDstLw ):

The antenna systems are under radomes with about 12 meters in diameter to minimize weathering.
