Grundsund

Grundsund is a locality ( Tätort ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götaland County and the historic province of Bohuslän.

The fishing village located on the island Skaftölandet, commonly referred to as Skaftö, in the town of Lysekil, about 35 km west of Uddevalla. The church was built in Grundsund 1799. There is a memorial stone in front of the church in memory of accident sailors and fishermen.

Geography

The municipality of Lysekil extends along the 25 km long Gullmarsfjordes which forms the municipal boundary to the south, but also includes the island Skaftö south of the fjord and the offshore archipelago. Other towns on the island are Rågårdsvik and also nationally known resort Fiskebäckskil. The archipelago is some of the old cultural landscape. The Gullmarsfjord has a unique marine habitat.
