Gu Changwei

Gu Changwai (Chinese顾 长 卫, Gu Changwei Pinyin; born December 12, 1957 in Xi'an, Shaanxi ) is a Chinese cinematographer and film director.

Life

Gu Changwai studied camera from 1978 to 1982 at the Beijing Film Academy. He then worked for the Xi'an Film Studios until 1993 with Farewell My Concubine. Exclusively as a cameraman on the films of his classmates Chen Kaige and Zhang Yimou For this he was first for one of the most important film awards, the Oscar, honored with a nomination for Best Cinematography. 2005 Gu Changwai were with Kong Que his debut as a film director. The drama was awarded at the International Filmfeststpielen Berlin in 2005 with the Grand Jury Prize.

Since 1993, Gu Changwai is married to actress Jiang Wenli.
