Guainía Department

The Departamento de Guainía is a province in eastern Colombia. It is bordered to the east by Venezuela and Brazil to the south, on the west by the provinces Vaupés and Guaviare and Vichada north is.

The economy is weak. There are in addition to agriculture still fishing, hunting and livestock as well as in the mountainous areas on the borders with Venezuela and Brazil gold and diamond deposits.

The majority form natives of various tribes of the area.

Administrative subdivision

The Departamento de Guainía given the small settlement of a municipality ( municipality ) and eight offices ( " corregimientos Departamentales " marked with CD at the end) with similar tasks but very few inhabitants.
