Guaratinguetá

Guaratinguetá is a Brazilian city in the east of the state of São Paulo, with a population of 113 357 (S 2009).
The municipality covers 751 km ² at an average altitude of 530 m above sea level. NN. The city's name comes from a Tupi- Language: Guyra ( heron), tinga (white) and ETA (many ), so Gûyrating'etá ( many white herons ).
The Basketball South American Championship of Women in 1986 took place here.
Education and Economy
The Faculty of Engineering ( FEG) of the State University UNESP located in Guaratinguetá, as well as equipment of German companies BASF and Liebherr.
Twinning
In October 1992, the church entered into a sister city agreements with the Japanese Oizumi.
