Guðbjartur Hannesson

Guðbjartur Hannesson ( born June 3, 1950 in Akranes ) is an Icelandic politician of the Social Democratic Alliance.

Guðbjartur is since 2007 member of the Icelandic parliament Althingi for the North West constituency. In 2009 he was briefly President of the Parliament, in 2010, he joined as a health and social affairs ministers in the Cabinet. Since 2011, when the Health and the Ministry of Social Affairs were merged, until May 23, 2013, was Minister of Welfare. In the cabinet Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson the items are separately occupied since 2013: Guðbjarturs successor as Minister of Social Affairs and Housing Eygló Harðardóttir, new health minister was Kristján Þór Júlíusson.
