Guggi

Derek Rowen (* May 1959 Dublin), known under the stage name " Guggi ", is a contemporary Irish artists.

Derek Rowen came in Dublin, the second of ten children in the Rowen family to the world.

Guggi befriended already beginning to primary school times with Paul Hewson, a neighbor's child from the same road. Him he owes to his nickname " Bono Vox of O'Connell Street". Gavin Friday also belonged to the Friends Trio, which later became the clique called " Lypton Village " was formed, and also from the "U2" emerged in addition to the post-punk band " Virgin Prunes ".

Disappointed by the music industry, and after some wrangling within the band, Guggi left the " Virgin Prunes " in 1984 to follow his artistic passion: the minimalist painting, which he preferred the representations of vessels. The painting and drawing he brought predominantly itself, since although he already showed as a child talent, his teachers could not abgewinnen much his style.

His works have been shown in various exhibitions, including at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery in New York City, the Osborne Samuel Gallery in London and the Solomon Gallery in Dublin, where he lives with his wife Sibylle and their four sons.
