Guido II da Polenta

Guido Novello da Polenta († 1323 in Bologna ) was a top Italian rulers and author of poems.

Novello da Polento was the son of Ostasio da Polenta. 1265 he took possession of the dominion over Ravenna, which he ruled until he was overthrown in 1322.

In 1316 he granted Dante, who had been expelled from Florence, asylum in Ravenna where he could complete his Divine Comedy. 1321 he sent Dante on a diplomatic mission to Venice, from the returned ill poet and a short time later died.
