Guido Tabellini

Guido Enrico Tabellini ( born 1956 in Turin, Italy ) is an Italian economist and university professor.

Career, teaching and research

Tabellini completed his studies in economics at the University of Turin in 1980 with his Laurea title from. Then he left his homeland and went to the United States. At the University of California, Los Angeles, he continued his studies and graduated there four years later as a Ph.D. He remained in the United States and joined as an assistant professor at Stanford University. In 1986 he returned to UCLA, where he later became an Associate Professor.

1990 saw Tabellini a call from the University of Cagliari and returned as a full professor back to Italy. A year later he moved on within Italy and took an economics professor at the University of Brescia. In 1994 he moved to a private university. On the based in Milan Bocconi University, he took over in addition to his teaching activities, the Director of the Office of the Innocenzo Gasparini Institute for Economic Research. From 2002 he headed the Institute as president, after his election as rector of the university in 2008 he resigned that office.

Tabellinis work and research interests are in the field of political economy and economics and corporate finance and industrial organization. In particular, the theory of growth under different political and social conditions are the focus of his research activities.

Tabellini 2007 was President of the European Economic Association. He has won several awards for his work, including came in 2001, together with the French Philippe Aghion the Yrjö - Jahnsson price. Since 2001 he is a Fellow of the Econometric Society.
