In the same year, he finished second on a Giro stage. In 2003 he moved to Fassa Bortolo, where he continued two years before he came to the Belgian ProTour team Quick Step. He played in 2005 for the first time the Tour de France and finished it as the 139th overall. The fifth stage of the Tour of Austria in 2006, he finished in third place. From 2007 to 2008 he rode for Liquigas, then he ended his sports career.

He is, however, not to be confused with the Italian Cycling Professional Guido Trentin.
