Guillaume Taraval

Guillaume Thomas Taraval (* 1701 in Paris, † 1750) was a native of France Swedish painter.

He came in 1732 to Sweden to participate in the construction of the royal palace, and led there a Rococo style. He painted portraits, altarpieces and still lifes and ceiling paintings at the Royal Palace in Stockholm ( designs for the ceiling painting in the chapel led his student Johan Pasch off). He was the first director of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts since its inception in 1735 and has many students in Sweden.

His son Louis Gustave Taraval was also a painter and architect.
