Guillermo Escalada

Guillermo Escalada ( born April 24, 1936) is a former Uruguayan football player.

Club career

The left winger, who was not one of the fastest players of his team, the however distinguished his powerful shot, began his career at Nacional in 1951 and played there until 1959. During the period 1951-1958 he scored during operations a total of 108 goals. He was on the winning three championships (1955, 1956, 1957) involved. For 1962 a further time is recorded at Nacional for him. He then subsequently moved to Argentina Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata, where he 1964-1965 25 games completed, in which he scored three goals. National

With the junior national team of Uruguay, he participated in the Junior Americas Cup in 1954 and took the title with this team. Escalada was also a member of the senior national team of Uruguay for which he completed 30 matches between 30 March 1955 to 15 August 1962 in which he scored eleven international goals. In 1962 he was part of the Uruguay squad for the World Cup. In addition, four tournaments are at the Copa America to book. It was his team in 1956 and 1959 ( where the second tournament of the year) to win the title. In the tournaments in 1955 and 1959 ( first tournament ) up to fourth or sixth place.
