Guitarrero Cave

The Guitarrero Cave is a cave in the Andean highlands of Peru.

In 1968, was found by Professor Thomas F. Lynch ( Cornell University, New York) in the Cordillera Negra in the canyon Callejón de Huaylas ( Ancash region ) traces of human settlement, have been estimated to be up to 12,600 years.

Among these were the remains of textiles, baskets, wood and leather tools, but especially of crops, such as beans, corn, chili peppers and Olluco that originate from an estimated colonization time of 7500 BC. The textiles were dated directly by AMS in 2011 and gave an age of about 11,000 BP.

This means that the ethnic groups of the time were in the transition from nomadism to sedentary nomadic peasant society.
