Gulangyu Island

The island of Gulangyu (鼓浪屿/鼓浪屿, Gǔlàng Yǔ ) is part of the municipality of the prefecture-level city Siming Xiamen in Fujian Province, China. The name literally means drum waves Island, suggesting the reefs in the southwest of the island to the noise of the waves.

The almost two- square -kilometer island was occupied in his history of many colonial powers, all their tracks, mainly architectural, left behind on the island. In addition to the official name is Gulangyu also throughout China as Piano Island (钢琴 之 岛/钢琴 之 岛), because here there is the greatest piano density per capita in all of China. In 1945, Gulangyu was one of the first four districts of Xiamen. In May 2003, however, it was the city district Siming, which lies on the Xiamen Island, connected and now forms the administrative district road Gulangyu (鼓浪屿 街道), an administrative unit at the community level.

Administrative Divisions

The Road Gulangyu district is made up of two residential communities. These are:
