Guðmundur Steingrímsson

Guðmundur Steingrímsson ( born October 28, 1972 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician ( Björt framtid ).

His father was the former Prime Minister Steingrímur Hemm ( 1928-2010 ). Guðmundur studied from 1992 Icelandic and Philosophy at the University of Iceland in 1998 and received a Master of Philosophy at the University of Uppsala in 2001 and a Master of Philosophy from Oxford University.

Since 1992 he has been active in the band Ske, which he co-founded. As a journalist he worked from 2003, among other things Fréttablaðið and the television Sirkus.

He is since 2009 member of the Icelandic parliament Althingi for the North West constituency. In Parliament, he was from 2009 to 2011 a member of the Committees on Social Affairs and Social Security, as well as transportation and communication. Since 2011 he is a member of the Committee on welfare. Guðmundur Steingrímsson, who was elected as a member of the Progressive Party in parliament, the party but has since left, is chairman of the party Björt framtid, which he founded in early 2012 in collaboration with the active party in Reykjavík Besti flokkurinn. In the parliamentary elections in Iceland in 2013, he was elected for Björt framtid the Althing.
