Election results

The party took in the parliamentary elections until the 1990s, usually in second place. Accordingly, many times they had been represented in the government, either in coalition with the Independence Party or one of the left-wing parties. However, they reported a continuous voter loss between 1995 and 2007.

In the Icelandic parliamentary election, 2007, the party won only 11.7 percent of the vote. This trend could be reversed in the 2009 elections.
