Günter Beier

Günter Beier ( born March 2, 1942 in Altenburg ) is a former German gymnast. His home club was the forward ASK Potsdam.

He won with the team of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) at the Summer Olympics in 1968 in Mexico City a bronze medal in the team all-around. At GDR championships he won from 1964 to 1967 four individual national titles in a row in the horse jump.

After the end of his active career, he completed a degree in psychology. In 1980 he received his doctorate from the Teacher Training College in Potsdam, a precursor of today's furnishings University of Potsdam. He is currently working as a sports psychologist and psychotherapist at the Olympic Training Center in Potsdam.
