Günter Bentele

Günter Bentele ( born March 24, 1948 in home church, Bavaria ) is Professor of Public Relations / Public Relations at the Institute of Communication and Media Studies and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of Leipzig.

Life

Günter Bentele studied from 1968 on German literature, linguistics, sociology, journalism and philosophy in Munich and Berlin. In 1974 he passed the state examination and received his doctorate in 1982. He qualified as a professor at the Free University Berlin in 1989. Between 1989 and 1994 he taught as a professor of communications / journalism at the Otto -Friedrich University in Bamberg.

Since 1980 Bentele has also worked as a PR consultant and has attended numerous guest lectures abroad, including the United States, Finland, Switzerland and Latvia. So far he has published nearly 40 books and wrote some 180 technical papers on topics such as public relations, film and television analysis, and communication research.

From 1995 to 1998 Bentele was chairman of the German Society for Journalism and Communication Studies. In 2005 he was president of the European Association of PR scientists EUPRERA. Since 2005 he is a Board of Assessors of German Trade Association of Journalists. He is also a member of the editorial boards of professional journals Spokesperson and Policy & Communications, and member of the Board of Trustees of the LPRS - Leipzig Public Relations Students Association 2004, he was awarded the Industry Prize " PR head of the year " of the German Public Relations Association and 2007 as a "Professor of year 2007 ".

Bentele 's degree program in charge of the Master programs Communication Management at the University of Leipzig and corporate publishing at the Leipzig School of Media.

In July 2010 Bentele was elected Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy.

Bentele is married and has two adult children. He lives with his family in Berlin.
