Guntis RÄ“Ä·is

Guntis Rekis ( born November 3, 1974 in Riga, Soviet Union) is a Latvian luger.

Guntis Rekis toboggan since 1985. Since 1997, the police officer from Riga belongs to the Latvian national team. He went up to four times at the Winter Olympics in singles and took it places 17 ( Nagano 1998 ), 29 (2002 in Salt Lake City ), 21 (2006 in Turin) and 26 ( Vancouver 2010 ). Several times he competed in other major events. At the World Championship 2008 in Oberhof, he won the Latvian team the bronze medal in the team race. At the World Championship in 2004, he finished with the team to sixth place. His best results in individual races in the Luge World Cup mostly on his home track in Sigulda, so in the last race of the 2006/07 season in seventh place, Season 2007/ 08 in sixth and fifth and finally 2008/09 season in fourth place. Even better, he could be placed only third in the Latvian team at the team competitions in Winterberg and Sigulda in the 2007/ 08 season. In the Toboggan Challenge Cup 2005 /06 Rekis was tenth in the overall standings.
