2006–07 Luge World Cup

The World Cup season 2006/ 07 in luge began on 18 November 2006 at Cesana Torinese and ended on February 18, 2007 in Sigulda, Latvia. The highlight of the season was the 39th Luge World Cup from 2 to 4 February 2007 at the Austrian Innsbruck -Igls.

With nine competitions exceptionally many appointments were scheduled this season. The reason was that an additional World Cup in Cesana has been inserted in order to use the latter otherwise unprofitable toboggan run in the post-Olympic Winter. In the nine World Cup four stations team competitions were held. For the first time in the history of the World Cup while the Team Relay was held. This new variant is to make the team competition for the audience interesting and also serve as an advertisement for the inclusion of the team competition in the Olympic program.

With the resignation of Sylke Otto shortly before the World Cup in Oberhof, is one of the most outstanding Rennrodelerinnen the last years of the World Cup circus adopted.
