Veronika Halder

Veronika Halder ( born October 14, 1980 in Hall in Tirol ) is a former Austrian luger. It belonged until 2011 to the Austrian national team and each won four medals at European Championships and World Junior Championships. In the World Cup their best overall result was a fifth place in the season 2003/04.

Career

Halder began as a ten- year-old with the tobogganing and rose at the age of 14 years to the art web. From 2000, she served on the National team of the Austrian Luge Federation. They celebrated the first international success at the Junior World Championship 1996 in Calgary, when she won the bronze medal with the team. Three years later, she won the Junior World Championship 1999 Igls in gold with the team and bronze in singles. In 2000, she won the bronze medal in Altenberg again with the team.

In the Challenge Cup Halder was from the 2000/01 season at the start. The best overall results they achieved two third places in the seasons 2005/ 06 and 2006/07. As of the 2001 /02 season Halder also took part in the World Cup as well as World and European Championships. Your best result in the World Cup was the fifth place in the season 2003/04. Twice she was sixth (2002/ 03 and 2005/ 06 ) and twice Seventh (2006/ 07 and 2008/ 09). Overall, they reached eight times a place among the top ten in the overall World Cup. In European Championships Halder won four medals: In 2004 she was third with the team, third in 2008 and second single-seater with the team and once again in 2010 with the second team. At World Championships were her best results of the fourth place in the team competition in 2004, and each fifth place in single-seaters in 2003 and 2004. Likewise in fifth in the single-seater reached Halder at the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin. Four years later, however, she was only twelfth in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. At the national level Halder won two state championship titles in single-seaters in 2006 and 2008.

In summer 2011, Halder was after 20 years in the sport of luge her resignation.
