Reinhold Rainer

Reinhold Rainer ( born August 29, 1973 in Sterzing, South Tyrol ) is an Italian former luger.

Reinhold Rainer operates since 1989 the sport of luge and belongs since 1994 to the national team of Italy. The forester lived in Racines and starts for the club CS Forestale. Highlights from the career of the South Tyrolean were the four participations in the Olympic Games. Rainer took 1995-2011 to twelve world championships. His best results were a fifth place in 2011 in Cesana and two sixth places in Nagano in 2004 and 2007 in Igls. Six times he took part in the European Championships between 1996 and 2006. 2006 in Winterberg, he missed a medal in fourth just barely. 2004 in Oberhof, he was sixth.

Best Placements in the World Cup was a third place in 2006/ 07 and a fifth place 2009/10. Once, 2003 in Park City Rainer won a World Cup race. In addition, a per Second (2006 in Igls ) and two third places (2006 in Cesana and 2011 in Koenigssee ). Seven times he missed a fourth place on the podium just barely. Four times Rainer could be Italian runner-up, third twice. On September 8, 2011 Rainer announced his retirement from racing.
