The Gur Sikh Temple ( Gurdwara ) of Abbotsford, British Columbia is the oldest existing Sikh temple in North America and was declared on 1 November 2002 by the Canadian Government to the National Historic Site of Canada. It is thus also the present ( 2010) only Sikh temple outside of India and Pakistan, which is a listed building.

The first Sikh met 1905 in the area around Abbotsford, to work in agriculture and forestry. 1908 began the first plans for the construction of a temple, which was then completed in late 1911. The official opening ceremony finally took place on 26 February 1912.

The original temple consisted of two floors. On the ground floor there was a kitchen and a communal dining room and upstairs there was the prayer room. The architectural style of the temple corresponded externally contemporary wooden houses in Abbotsford and only in its interior were decorations and design elements that are typical of the Sikh architecture related. The temple was later extended twice by Attachments (1932, 1960 ). Under the Prime Minister, Jean Chretien, he was on 31 July 2002 on the list of National Monuments of Canada ( National Historic Sites ).
