Gustaf Elgenstierna

Gustaf Magnus Elgenstierna ( born August 26 1871 in Klovsten at Vingåker in Södermanland, † March 21, 1948 in Lidingö in Stockholm ) was a Swedish postal worker and genealogist.

Family

Gustaf Elgenstierna was a son of Carl and Evelyn Elgenstierna Peter son. In 1908 he married Clara Sandberg, daughter of Postmaster Gustav Sandberg and Ida Stjerncreutz.

Life

In 1891 Elgenstierna began a study, in 1902 Postexpeditor with the Swedish post office, in 1915 already 1 Postexpeditor. In the years 1919-1937 he was inspector of the General Post Office.

In Stockholm Elgenstierna was 1906-1911 Book Auction Commissioner. Since 1924 he was a member of the board of the Swedish nobility Association (Svenska adelsförbundet ), and also of the Society for Danish-Norwegian genealogy and history people ( Samfundet for Genealogi dansk og Personal History ). In 1928 he joined the Society for Family Research in Finland.

Elgenstierna was one of Sweden's most renowned genealogist and editor of numerous genealogical and biographical publications. One of his most important publication series was the introducerade svenska adelns ättartavlor, a 9- volume series to genealogies of the Swedish nobility, comparable to the Genealogical manual of the aristocracy in Germany.
