Gustav Wied

Gustav Johannes Wied ( born March 6, 1858 in Branderslev at Nakskov, † October 24, 1914 in Roskilde ) was a Danish writer.

Life

Gustav Wied was the son of a wealthy landowner, who in various professions tried, until he settled in 1890 as a freelance writer.

His stories are characterized by quirky humor and sharp satire with which he described the people of his homeland. Wied thematized in his work, his critical relationship with the Company, which is accompanied by a profound pessimism.

On October 24, 1914, took Wied in Roskilde life.
