Gustavo Bueno

Gustavo Bueno, Gustavo Bueno Martínez ( born September 1, 1924 in Santo Domingo de la Calzada ) is a Spanish philosopher. He was a professor at the University of Oviedo and is a representative of philosophical materialism.

Life

Gustavo Bueno studied at the universities of Zaragoza and Madrid. In 1947 he received his doctorate at the University of Madrid with the work Fundamento formally y material de la moderna filosofía de la religión in Santiago Montero Díaz. Bueno was from 1949 secondary school teacher and lecturer at the University of Salamanca. In 1960 he was appointed professor at the University of Oviedo professor for "Fundamentals of philosophy and history of philosophical systems." Bueno founded the philosophy journal El Basilisco. A wider public he was known in the Spanish -speaking world by participating in public debates on radio, television and the press. A group of staff and students Buenos who are committed to the philosophy of materialism, is known in Spain as a school of Oviedo. 1998 saw the establishment of a philosophical academy Fundación Gustavo Bueno in Oviedo.
