Gusztáv Juhász

Gusztáv Juhász, Augustine also Iuhász, ( born December 19, 1911 in Temesvár, Austria - Hungary, † 20 January 2003 in New York) was a Romanian football player and coach. He played a total of 211 games in the Romanian Divizia A and the Hungarian Nemzeti National Championship. He also starred in the squad for the World Cup 1934.

Career as a player

Juhász began at the age of twelve years with the football in his hometown Timişoara in Chinezul, which was the leading Romanian club in the 1920s. In 1930 he moved up to the first team, a year later he moved to local rivals RGMT. After a year at Juventus Bucharest Juhász moved in 1933 to CAO Oradea in the highest Romanian league, which Divizia A.

With CAO Juhász was able to win the runner-up in the 1934/35 season, the big hit - the championship - but he succeeded only when he played in the 1939/40 season for Venus Bucharest. After only one year, he returned to Oradea, who played in the second Hungarian League after the Second Vienna Award now as Nagyváradi AC. After the immediate ascent he won the Hungarian championship in 1944.

After the end of World War II Oradea came back to Romania and the Nagyváradi AC played as Libertatea Oradea again in the Romanian leagues. Prior to the resumption of the national game operation Juhász but moved to local rivals Crişana CFR Oradea in the Divizia B, before he returned as player-coach to Libertatea in 1947 and a year later his playing career ended.

National

Juhász completed 21 games for the Romanian national football team, but not score. December 27, 1934 he had his debut against Greece. Although he had not played an international game, he had previously been called to the squad for the World Cup in Italy by coach Josef Uridil, came there but not used.

Career as a coach

Already in his last season Juhász was player-manager of Libertatea Oradea. After hanging up in 1948, the football boots on the nail, he devoted himself entirely to the work as a trainer and responsible for various clubs in Oradea. After a year at Explosivi Oradea he returned in 1950 to Libertatea (now as ICO Oradea ) back. He could not prevent the champion of last year could not build on the great successes of the 1940s, however.

After five years with the team of Dinamo unterklassigen Oradea Juhász retired in 1957 at first and took over only in 1966 at Crisul Oradea ( Bihor Oradea later FC ) a coaching job. In the eight eventful years at Crisul he experienced three descents and climbs two before he retired in 1973.
