Gutasaga

The Gutasaga is probably dating from the 13th century record of the early time evolution of Gotland.

Narrated by the Sage is an ancient gutnische manuscript from the 14th century and a German from the 15th century. The Gutasaga reported, probably not in all respects in accordance with the truth, from the first settlement of Gotland and the emigration from the island to the east and southeast. The emigrants are to be advanced into the Eastern Roman Empire, which harmonize with the history of the Goths.

Next is reported by the promulgation of Christianity by Olav the Holy in Gotland, of the first church buildings as well as by the voluntary submission of Gotland under the king of the Svea and the Bishop of Linköping.

The Guta saga is an important document for the development of altgutnischen language.
