Guy Henniart

Guy Henniart (* 1953 in Santes ) is a French mathematician who deals with number theory and automorphic forms, especially with the Langlands program.

Life

Henniart studied from 1973 to the Ecole Normale Superieure and his doctorate in 1978 at the University of Paris V Pierre Cartier ( Représentations you groupe d'un corps de Because local). He is a professor at the University of Paris-Sud in Orsay.

Henniart is known for work in the Langlands program. In 1998 he proved the local ( ie for local p- adic body ) Langlands correspondence and conjecture ( for the general linear group GL ( n ) ), which is also independent Michael Harris and Taylor did.

He is a member of Nicolas Bourbaki. In 2010 he was awarded the Sophie Germain prize of the French Academy of Sciences. In 2006 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Madrid ( On the local Langlands and Jacquet - Langlands correspondences ).
