Guy II of Dampierre

Guy II de Dampierre († January 18, 1216 ) was constable of the county of Champagne, Lord of Dampierre, Bourbon and Montlucon. He was the only son of Guillaume I de Dampierre, Lord of Dampierre, and Ermengarde de Mouchy.

Guy II took part in the Third Crusade and reached as a member of an advance team in the fall of 1189 the siege of Acre. In the Holy Land he was in 1191 ranked among the followers ( familiares ) of Conrad of Montferrat.

In 1212 he was commissioned by King Philip II Augustus, the order for the submission of Count Guido II of Auvergne, which he successfully completed the conquest of the castle Tournoël in December 1213. In 1214 he wore at the battle of Bouvines significantly to the French victory.

He married in 1186 Matilda, Lady of Bourbon, daughter of Archambault VII, Lord of Bourbon and Alix of Burgundy. By this marriage the rule of Bourbon came to the house of Dampierre. Their children were:
