Guy Reibel

Guy Reibel ( born July 19, 1936 in Strasbourg ) is a French composer, music teacher and choir director.

Reibel studied engineering before he studied music at the Conservatoire de Paris. From 1963 to 1983 he was a member of the Groupe de recherches musicales, where he among other things, the sound samples to Pierre Schaeffer's Traité des objets Musicaux contributed. Between 1977 and 1986, he supervised several musical and music education programs for Radio France, including Les Concerts, lectures, Microcosmos, Les Enfants d' Orphée and Repères contemporains. In addition, he founded the studio of choeurs de Radio France, an ensemble for performances of contemporary compositions. From 1986 to 1990 he led the Groupe Vocal de France, with the he performed more than one hundred works by contemporary musicians and all the vocal work of György Ligeti resumed.

At the Conservatoire de Paris Reibel employee was initially in Schaeffer's class of electro-acoustic music before he was from 1976 to 2001 professor of composition. From 1983 to 1989 he was musical adviser to the Paris Cité de la Musique de la Villette and created for the Musée des la Musique with Patrice Moullet the sonorous Corps de la Villette, multicolored sound sculptures in which electronic sounds can be controlled by gestures.
