GWR Star Class

The Star class was a series of broad gauge steam locomotives with the wheel arrangement 1A1 for express trains of the Great Western Railway.

The Star series was supplied with 12 copies at the instigation of Sir Daniel Gooch by Robert Stephenson for the Great Western Railway 1838-1842. This was the precursor and model for the designed by Gooch himself GWR Class Firefly.

A replica made ​​in 1923 is situated in the Swindon Steam Railway Museum.
