Life and work

Haegue Yang was born as the daughter of writer and journalist Hansoo Misoon Kim Yang. In 1994, she joined the Fine Arts College of Seoul National University in Seoul with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, 1999, she was a master student at the Städel School in Frankfurt am Main Georg Herold.

Haegue Yang uses in their - in some space-filling - applications industrial series products and works with systems of order that it leaches from their functional context. On the Documenta (13 ), which took place in Kassel in 2012, they showed a typical work on the railway track in the north wing of KulturBahnhof. A dozen electrically operated blinds rose and fell, opened and closed in a ballet -like rhythm. " She goes to the question of which basic assumptions and expectations of behavior manifest in them and therefore be passed to the user. "

Haegue Yang lives and works in Berlin and Seoul.
