Hafiz Hakki Pasha

Hafiz Pasha Hakkı (* 1879 in Bitola, † February 15, 1915 in Erzurum ) was Ottoman general in the Battle of Sarıkamış.

Hakkı Pasha was born in 1879 in what was then the Ottoman Empire belonging Manastır ( Bitola ). He graduated in 1903 from the Military Academy ( Harp Akademisi ) in İstanbul top of his class, his classmate, Enver Pasha was second best.

He participated in the Balkan War in 1912 and wrote books on military affairs. With 23 was Hakkı Captain ( kurmay yüzbaşı ). He was for a time military attaché in Vienna.

Enver Pasha ordered Hakkı Pasha for the Division Commander ( Tümen komutanı ) for the Sarıkamış mission. Hakkı Pasha was promoted to colonel at this time ( Albay ).

On January 8, 1915 Enver Pasha dismissed the commander of the Third Army, Hasan Izzet Pasha because he criticized the plans in Sarıkamış and handing over control to Hakkı Pasha.

So how many soldiers were involved in the Battle of Sarıkamış also Hafiz Pasha Hakkı ill in February 1915 of typhus. He was treated in hospital in Erzurum, however, died on February 15, 1915 from the effects of the disease.

Family

Hafiz Hakkı married Behiye Sultan, a granddaughter of Sultan Murad V. Thus Hakkı became Damad -ı Şehriyârî ( German: groom of the Sultan ). .
