Hafız Ahmed Pasha

Hafiz Ahmed Pasha Müezzinzade Filibeli (* 1564 Filibe in the Ottoman Empire, today Plovdiv in Bulgaria, † February 10, 1632 in Istanbul) was an Ottoman grand vizier. Born the son of a Pomaks muezzins, he came up with 15 years to Istanbul, where he was for many years servant in the palace. From 1609 he was governor of Damascus, Van, Erzurum, Baghdad and other Anatolian vilayets.

He was twice Grand Vizier and remained some two years, a month and 21 days in office. He died in battle against rebellious Janissaries, the Sultan Murat IV wanted to sell.
