The company Hahnemühle FineArt GmbH with its headquarters in Lower Saxony Dassel ( district Relliehausen ) is a papierherstellendes companies. History

The company dates back to the establishment of a paper mill in Relliehausen am Solling in 1584 by the papermaker Merten spit. The approval was received from the sovereign, Duke Erich II, on 27 February 1584. It was founded on the river Ilme, the Solling offered the high quality paper decisive, particularly soft and pure spring water due to the filtration of the sandstone and provides up today. The well-known with regard to the earlier time in the literature as a paper mill or Relliehausen Dassel operation, initially only one of many of this kind between the Weser and Leine, was able to get a single one of them over the centuries.

By the year 1769 the factory remained in the possession of the spear family. On August 30, 1769 Johann Jacob Heinrich Andrae bought from Petershütte the paper mill for 4500 Reichsthaler. On August 13, 1884 HJ Heinemann acquired from Hanover, the paper mill by Oskar Andrae and immediately began the construction of a new production facility. In 1902, Hahnemühle merged with the firm Schleicher & Schuell from Düren, which was the sole owner in 1927.
